Counselling and Mental Health

University Counsellors and Mental Health Advisors offer free and confidential support. The quickest way to see one of the team is to attend one of their drop-in sessions. Alternatively, if you would like ongoing counselling sessions, you can complete an online application form via Unihub. Financial

The university’s Student Welfare Advice Team (SWAT) can provide information, advice and guidace about immediate and longer term financial and housing support. Click here to book an appointment to see an advisor via Unihub.

Students Union

The Students’ Union can provide independent advice and support on a range of issues as well as independent advocacy. Further information and contact details can be found here.

Academic support 

A Progression and Support Advisor will be able to provide guidance if your studies have been impacted. Either ask a tutor to make a referral, submit an online query, or call 020 8411 6060 and ask to be referred directly.  

Charities and hotlines

The following organisations offer free practical and emotional support:

  • CATCH (Community Alliance to Combat Hate) – a way for people who have experienced hate to get the maximum amount of help with a minimum amount of hassle. The charity is open to anyone who experiences hate in London.
  • CST (The Community Security Trust) – a charity that protects British Jews from antisemitism and related threats. CST provides a facility for reproting and accessing support.
  • Dimensions – a charity that supports people with learning difficulties, autism and challenging behaviour and complex needs.
  • Ditch the label – an international anti-bullying charity, providing digital online support and operating the largest bullying support community in the world with thousands of free guides and resources.
  • Galop – a national charity providing advice and support to members of the LGBT community.
  • Hate Crime: A guide to those affected.
  • Inclusion London – an organisation which promotes equality for London’s Deaf and Disabled people and includes an alliance of over 70 Deaf and Disabled organisations.
  • Revenge porn helpline – advice and information on legal help available.
  • Stop Hate UK – a national organisation working to challenge all forms of hate crime and discrimination, based on any aspect of an individual’s identity.  They provide independent, confidential and accessible support for all victims, witnesses and third parties.
  • Tell MAMA – a national organisation which supports victims of anti-Muslim hate and provides a public service which measures and monitors anti-Muslim incidents.
  • The Traveller Movement – an organisation which promotes the inclusion of Gypsies, Roma and Travellers.
  • Truevision – online information about hate crime and hate incidents and advice on how to report it.  
  • Victim Support – a national charity dedicated to helping anyone affected by crime, not just victims and witnesses, but friends, family and anyone else caught up in the aftermath.
